Day 01. Cuzco / Sacsayhuamán / Cuzco
After
arrival in Cusco, you will be met and transferred to the hotel
selected for a welcome cup of coca tea to help you become
acclimated to the altitude. In the afternoon, City tour of Cusco
including visits to the Cathedral of Cusco, originally
built in 1534 and its Gothic-Renaissance hybridism of Spanish
Cathedrals with some traditional baroque style, the Temple of
the Sun or Koricancha, said to be one of the most respected
and sacred place where people venerated the Inca God – The INTI
- and visits to the nearby ruins at the Sacsayhuamán Fortress,
the most amazing Inca stone-work construction from where the
city of Cusco was guarded and overlooked at all times,
archeological site of Kenko, a worship place and outdoor
amphitheater, the red fortress of Puca-Pucara, and the
Inca Bath at Tambomachay, apparently one of the most
favorite resting-places of the Incas. Return to Cusco and
overnight at hotel. (No meals)
Day 02. Cuzco / Aguas Calientes / Machu Picchu / Cuzco
Begin your day with an early breakfast then you will be
transferred to Cusco’s railway station for a three-hour train
ride, passing through wonderful landscapes, farms and villages,
to Aguas Calientes village.
A thirty-minutes bus ride,
zigzagging the mountain ridges, will take you 2,000 feet up to
the Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu. A walking
guided tour of the world’s most famous Inca ruins includes a
visit to the Intiwatana, an astronomical calendar for the
Incas, the Temple of the Sun and the Moon, dedicated to
their greatest deity, the Sun God or INTI, the Room of the
Three Windows, and its many plazas, terraces, stone steps
and water fountains. A buffet lunch will be served at Machu
Picchu Sanctuary hotel restaurant. Return by bus to Aguas
Calientes to board the train back to Cusco, arriving at Poro’s
railway station where a short bus ride will take you to La Cava
de San Rafael restaurant for dinner and folkloric show.
Overnight at hotel (B, L, Dinner show)
Day 03. Cuzco / Lima
After breakfast, morning at leisure to walk on your own along
Cusco’s stone streets, visit one of the many handicrafts markets
or just relax at the hotel. Mid afternoon, transfer to airport
for flight to Lima. (B)
