Cuzco & Machu Picchu

Day 01. Lima / Cuzco
Upon
arrival in Cuzco, you will be met and transferred to your hotel
selected for a welcome cup of coca tea and encouraged to relax
and get acclimatized to the altitude. Afternoon, time at leisure
to walk around Cusco city. Overnight at hotel. (No meals)
Day 02. Cuzco / Machu Picchu / Cuzco
After breakfast, transfer from the hotel to Cusco’s railway
station for a three-hour train ride to Aguas Caliente village -
opportunities to admire wonderful landscapes, farms, and
waterfalls - where once you arrive a thirty-minute bus ride will
take you up 2,000 feet above sea level to the Machu Picchu
site’s entrance. A walking guided tour of the world’s famous
Inca ruins includes visits to the Intiwatana, the Temple of the
Sun and Moon, plazas, terraces, and the Wall of the Three
Windows. A buffet lunch is included at Machu Picchu Sanctuary
hotel restaurant. Mid afternoon, return to Cusco and overnight
at hotel. (B, L.)
Day 03. Cuzco / Pisac / Cuzco
Begin your day with a tasty breakfast at the hotel then depart
to the village of Pisac, located in the Sacred Valley of the
Incas. Visit the colorful Indian market where you can observe
(and buy) local goods and handicrafts. After lunch - included at
TUNUPA Restaurant - tour the ruins at Ollantaytambo complex.
Late afternoon return to Cusco and overnight at hotel. (B, L)
Day 04. Cuzco / Sacsayhuamán / Cuzco
Breakfast at hotel. No activities are scheduled during the
morning hours. This will give you some time to explore the city
of Cusco on your own. In the afternoon, City tour of Cusco
including visits to the Main Cathedral, the Temple of the Sun
and a visit to the nearby ruins at the Sacsayhuamán Fortress,
Kenko, Puca-Pucara and the Inca Bath at Tambomachay. Return to
Cusco for a dinner show at La Cava de San Rafael and overnight
at hotel. (B, Dinner show)
Day 05. Cuzco / Lima
After breakfast, visit on your own pace some of the many
handicraft markets around Cusco or just relax at the hotel. Mid
afternoon, transfer to the airport. (B)
