The M/F Arapaima is our brand new Amazon Expedition Cruise vessel.
It began
sailing out of the city of
Iquitos,
Peru
on regular scheduled cruise and expedition departures in January 2008.
The ship was built in its entirety in the shipyards of Iquitos,
Peru and now offers deluxe accommodations to 32 passengers
on each sailing.
Much thought went into the planning and design
of the Arapaima. Maximum passenger comfort had to be provided in
cabins and on deck areas while the ship had to provide a smooth
sailing on the mighty Amazon River as well as on the smaller
tributaries. The success of many trips depend on the access a
vessel has to these smaller rivers. Larger ships are not able to
enter these smaller waterways making for a less attractive
Amazon Experience.
The Arapaima provides International travelers with programmed itineraries and
charters to the frontier cities of
Leticia (Colombia)
/
Tabatinga
(Brazil),
Pacaya / Samiria National Reserve, and
Tapiche
River system among other areas in the
Peruvian Amazon.
Blending classic elegance with modern sophistication, the 120-foot
M/F Arapaima has a style all its own. She has a well distributed
passenger’s three deck areas -- At mid and upper deck there are a
total of 14 comfortable out-side cabins plus a suite featuring
panoramic window, air-conditioning, ample closet, writing desk,
chair and a roomy bathroom/shower with hot and cold water.
The
air-conditioned and open-seating dining room / bar offers passengers
a lovely place where they can enjoy tasty and varied Peruvian local,
national and international buffet style cuisine. Overseen by our
excellent and affable chefs, the kitchen crew makes use of the freshest vegetables
and fruits. Meals feature outstanding local fish from the Amazon
along with excellent turkey, chicken and beef.
Alcoholic, non-alcoholic and exotic beverages are served at our
intimate bar while passengers can observe spectacular views of
unimaginable beauty of the passing Amazon shoreline through panoramic wide
windows. From the covered and uncovered Observation
deck passengers can enjoy a drink, take pictures, relax or read a
book in one of the hammocks or just observe the Amazon rainforest
and wildlife, in a fantastic 360 degree panoramic view, at their own
pace. |
